Take Sade Sati, read in an actual report.
First, the part no one tells you: everyone has Sade Sati. Saturn circles the whole chart over about 29 years, so this passage reaches every person, two or three times in a life. You weren’t singled out, and it isn’t a punishment. The texts describe a season that asks you to slow down and build on firmer ground. What it leaves behind is usually a steadier, more self-made you.

Of all the planets in your chart, one has traveled further into its sign than any other. In the Jaimini system, that planet is your Atmakaraka, the significator of the soul. It points to what your life keeps asking you to work on, the lesson that recurs until it is met. Most readings never mention it, because most never compute it. Many people carry a janmapatri prepared decades ago and never question it. Yet a great number of those old charts, hand-computed before modern astronomy was within reach, place the ascendant in the wrong sign, sometimes by a wide margin.
Modern tools fixed the astronomy, but not the harder part. Precise planetary positions still mislead if they are read through the wrong framework: the wrong ayanamsa, the wrong house logic, an interpretation that drifts from what the text actually says. Accuracy of calculation and faithfulness to the classical method are two different disciplines. Joining them correctly, and showing our work where the two meet, is what we do.
We turn to a chart at the harder turns of life: a marriage, a child’s path, a career that has stalled. We are looking for some footing. That footing is worth nothing if the chart is wrong.
