Jataka Parijata
जातकपारिजात
A 15th-century comprehensive classical text on natal astrology by Vaidyanatha Dikshita, one of the larger medieval jataka compendia.
Jataka Parijata is a comprehensive classical text on natal astrology composed by Vaidyanatha Dikshita, generally dated to the 15th century CE in South India. Across its 18 chapters (adhyayas) it treats the full range of horoscopy — the signs and houses, planetary strengths, yogas, the dasha systems, and the results read from a nativity — and is one of the larger and more detailed of the medieval jataka compendia.
It draws on and systematizes the earlier tradition, and is frequently cited alongside BPHS and Phaladeepika, particularly in South Indian practice.
How SahiKundli uses it
When SahiKundli draws on Jataka Parijata, the relevant principle is cited with chapter and shloka, keyed to the named edition above, so a reader can trace the claim to its source rather than take it on assertion.
For SahiKundli’s broader position on classical-text citation and what it does and doesn’t claim, see How we cite.
