Shukraशुक्र
Venus
Venus in Vedic astrology — the karaka of beauty, desire, relationship, and refinement; ruler of Vrishabha (Taurus) and Tula (Libra).
Shukra is the Sanskrit name for Venus. Also called Shukracharya in classical texts — the teacher of the asuras, associated with desire and the arts of living.
Karaka (significator) of: romantic relationships and the capacity for pleasure, beauty and aesthetic sensibility, luxury and material comfort, artistic talent, vehicles, marriage (as a general significator for male charts in classical texts), kidneys, and semen.
Rules two lagnas: Vrishabha (Taurus) — the more grounded, sensory, and materially-oriented expression; and Tula (Libra) — Venus's mooltrikona, the more relational, balanced, and socially-oriented expression.
Exalted in Meena (Pisces) at 27°. Debilitated in Kanya (Virgo) at 27°.
Venus is the second natural benefic alongside Jupiter. In Jaimini astrology, Venus as Atmakaraka (the planet with the highest degree in the chart) carries specific significance for the chart's soul orientation — this is the case for the founder's reference chart, where Venus at 29° Aries holds the Atmakaraka position.
Used on SahiKundli for: Venus's placement in houses and signs, ruling planet for Vrishabha and Tula lagnas, relationship axis readings, and as Atmakaraka candidate in Jaimini readings.
